Lead ELA Tutor

Spend your days focused on the student in front of you. Deliver sustained 1:1 ELA instruction, diagnose needs in real time, and refine your practice with a team of expert educators and researchers.

What you'll do

  • Deliver approximately 3 hours daily of individualized 1:1 ELA instruction
  • Diagnose student needs in real time and adjust your approach accordingly
  • Apply research-based methods using the program’s chosen curriculum, with autonomy in how it’s delivered
  • Spend ~60 minutes daily on preparation and structured reflection
  • Complete decision journals after each session: what worked, what didn’t, and planned refinements
  • Track student progress through ongoing diagnostic assessments and adjust instruction based on data
  • Mentor and develop a team of ELA tutors
  • Lead weekly team practice and case-study sessions
  • Help refine instructional methods across the team

Who you are

  • Demonstrated track record of driving strong student academic growth
  • Deep understanding of instructional practices in 3rd–4th grade reading and writing
  • Ability to diagnose learning needs and respond with precision and flexibility
  • Strong relational skills and ability to motivate diverse learners
  • High level of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail

Compensation & commitment

  • Salary: ~$130,000 annually, plus benefits
  • 1-year commitment, with potential to extend to 2 years
  • Daily schedule includes ~3 hours of tutoring + preparation and reflection time
  • Virtual instruction environment
