ELA Tutor
Spend your days focused on the student in front of you. Deliver sustained 1:1 ELA instruction, diagnose needs in real time, and refine your practice with a team of expert educators and researchers.
What you'll do
- Deliver approximately 3 hours daily of individualized 1:1 ELA instruction
- Diagnose student strengths and gaps in real time and adjust instruction accordingly
- Apply research-based methods using the program’s chosen curriculum, with autonomy in how it’s delivered
- Spend ~60 minutes daily on preparation and structured reflection
- Complete decision journals after each session, documenting student learning state, instructional choices, what was effective, and planned adjustments
- Track student progress through ongoing diagnostic assessments and adjust based on data
- Engage in coaching, observation, and feedback cycles
- Contribute to a culture of excellence and shared learning across tutors
Who you are
- Demonstrated track record of driving strong student academic growth
- Strong understanding of instructional practices in 3rd–4th grade reading and writing
- Ability to diagnose learning needs and respond with precision and flexibility
- Strong relational skills and ability to motivate diverse learners
- High level of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail
Compensation & commitment
- Salary: ~$100,000 annually, plus benefits
- 1-year commitment, with potential to extend to 2 years
- Daily schedule includes ~3 hours of tutoring + preparation and reflection time
